HealthWalks

Iwade HealthWalks have been running for some years and meet outside Iwade Pharmacy. Led by James Apps and administrated by Steff, the walks last 60-90 minutes and tend to be across rough ground so do wear suitable footwear. Be aware that you may come across farm animals and dogs. No charge and all welcome, although unfortunately not dogs.

Amanda Claridge runs a children's only Shotokan Karate club at Iwade and Bobbing schools. Amanda has been teaching karate for over 15 years and is a teacher at the school too. She welcomes all children from year R onwards to come and learn the skills and discipline of karate at a fun and friendly club. Classes are £4 and are term time only. At Iwade School, there is a 5-6pm class for beginners, 9th-8th kyu and a 6-7pm class for advanced, 8th kyu +. There is also a class at Bobbing School on Mondays 5-6pm for all grades.

Millan Waters Fishery is near Iwade its lake being between 6 and 7 acres and has excellent water quality throughout the season. The syndicate is a "members only" water (limited member guest tickets are available by prior agreement) and no fishing is available to the general public. There is an abundance of bushes and trees around the lake itself which provide prolific insect life throughout the season. Depths vary but a highlight is a deep channel which provides cooler water in the summer months. Regular stockings are made consisting of rainbow & brown trout, creating a unique fishing facility in this area. The Fishery has its own car park, returns hut and several small boats for members use if fishing afloat is desirable. Fishing platforms are well established around the lake and members can enjoy 12 months “all year” fishing under a season subscription, with no restriction on the number of visits they can make in a season.

Iwade Parent and Toddler Group is on every Tuesday morning in term-time from 9am to 11am in the Village Hall. It's run by volunteers and is an excellent playgroup. There's a baby area to protect the little ones from the toddlers, a range of toys to play with, and different tables for crafts, books and puzzles for more quiet activities. The children sit down for a drink and a biscuit at around 10 (that's the only quiet time!) and parents can help themselves to tea or coffee. £2 for the first child and 50p for each additional child.

The new Weightwatchers meeting is every Monday starting at 7pm till 8pm at Iwade Barn.  Weightwatchers Coach Stacey Deacon will be running the meeting and has been doing Weight Watchers for 7 years in which time she has married and had 2 children. Stacey came back as a member in January to lose her baby weight and to date has lost 48 lbs. Stacey says that Flex Plan is great for all aspects of life as with no food off limits it's all about lifestyle change whilst still enjoying yourself.  Stacey became a coach in July 2018 and is ready to support and inspire members to reach their goals whatever they may be.  Stacey is still on her own journey to goal so while she is supporting members they are supporting her by giving her fresh ideas too!
